Could I possibly get into NYU early decision?
I am a rising senior enrolled in all honor classes save for math at my mid-atlantic high school. My school is public, but at the same time very highly ranked.
my GPA has been up and down throughout high school due to some personal issues that I was dealing with, although it has shown an upward trend.
freshman and sophmore : 3.1.
junior year: 3.8.
APS: us history, english, art, social studies
ACT score: 30
will be taking SAT IIs for English and US History in the fall.
school activites: bandfront, field hockey, swimming, track, yearbook, various community service clubs, relay for life and relay for life committee, yearbook, chorus, select chorus, and outdoor adventure club.
outside school:
community service
church mission trip
volunteered for local congressional campaign
I will also be submitting an art portfolio with my application
I want to become an english major at NYU. What chance do you think I have for early decision acceptance?
GPA for freshman and sophomore years are low but junior year GPA is fine… however, you also need a good rank, preferably within top 5%
AP record looks fine but you also need scores, not just courses.. not sure what you mean by AP Social Studies
ACT score is definately good enough but won’t impress
Extracurriculars look good, NYU is not known to be a sports powerhouse so your sports may help you get in.
I’d say you have a good shot. Just write a good essay and you’ll probably be in.

Active Life Oatmeal

How do I lose fat around my waist fast?
I have high metabolism, so I’ve been pretty thin my whole life. I’m a very active person, so If I go without exercising for a long time, my stomach will look like “blah”. I’m 14, I just need some fast, and easy exercising tips, like sit-ups, crunches, lunges, etc.
I already know that swimming and running help you lose weight, I run a lot, (just not recently cause I’ve been lazy) and I don’t have a pool available to me at the moment.

Just exercising tips please =D (I run a lot already)
in the time it took you to write this question and wait for/read all the answers, you could have done enough exercise to lose some of the fat. experiment

Is my daily meal healthy for me?
Breakfast: 1 cup of a fat free rice krispee cereal w/ fat free milk
Lunch: Homemade salad (lettuce, tomatoes and steamed potatoes)
Dinner: 1 Banana
NO SNACKS. I just drink 2 cups of tea. 1 after i come from school 1 after workout.
The catch is im not active. I go to school for 6 hours. then i come home and play in the computer then go to the gym for an hour (i run 1.40 miles {130 calories} burnt, then some crunches, 12 reps of weight lifting (10 lbs) and i climb 116 steps on the climbing machine.)
You guys can suggest what i should eat if my meal isnt great for my lifestyle.
I am 106 lbs and 14 years old.
The main reason i dont eat much is because i used to be obese and im scared i might get fat again.
I know you’re afraid of gaining weight, but you’ve gott’a get over those feelings, and learn to trust you’reself and food.
You’re not eatting nearly enough, not even for a healthy weight loss.
Can you try adjusting some things? Cu’z at this point, it sounds like your dreading into ‘teen anorexia’.
- Add a peice of fruit at breakfast. It could be 125mL of juice, 1/4 cup dried fruit, 1/2 cup berries, or a medium fruit (banana, apple, orange, etc..)
- Try having a sandwhich for lunch, with maybe a side salad.
(Lean meat sandwhich with a slice of cheese, 2-3 slices of turkey roast beef chicken or ham, tbsp of mustard or 2tsp margerine along with vegetable condiments- if you’re not a meat fan/ vegetarian use 2 tbsp hummus instead.
- Dinner.. com’on a banana! Have a normal dinner like: pasta with tomatoe sauce and salad, or a roast beef/ pork/ chicken dinner.
Grilled salmon/ chicken with 1/2 cup brown rice, serving of vegetables and glass of skim- 1% milk.
- Eat snacks, they keep you’re metabolism revulated throughout the day so it doesnt die down.
Last of all, EAT. Eat when you’re hungry, even when you’re not sometimes to get nutrition in. Just be smart, eat healthily, treat you’reself once in awhile, exercize for atleast 40 minutes 4-5 times week, nothing extreme.
Following the above you ‘will not’ go back into you’re obsesity stage. Thats the past you, this is the present you. You know smarter choices now.
